Manzanita Loop12 Miles
2539 ft elevation gain 6 miles - fire road and pavement 5 miles - single track This is one of my favorite trails in our area. You'll have a long decent from the pine forests near the base of Mt Baden Powell and end up in the creek side desert camp site of South Fork. Along the way you'll enjoy views of Devils Punch bowl as well. Start at Vincent Gap at the kiosk on right side of the road. Following the trail is straight forward although there are a few creek beds you'll need to walk. Once you arrive at the campsite, follow the access rd to Big Rock Creek rd. (pavement) and begin the long and stiff climb back to Vincent's Gap. Some may choose to start at South Fork and get the climbing out of the way at the beginning. Either way it a blast. |
